Parent Involvement

Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ’s Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) is seeking a community member from the Clarington region, with an interest in public education, to serve on the committee, effective now until October 2024.

Those interested are welcome to submit a letter of interest. Please review the details regarding candidate eligibility and how to apply here.

We foster parental involvement and community engagement to build partnerships that support student learning. We believe that parents play a vital role in the education of their children and in the success of schools.

Parent involvement can be done in a number of ways such as

  • communicating
  • helping students at home
  • attending school events
  • building parenting skills
  • volunteering
  • influencing decision-making.

Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)

The Parent Involvement Committee provides advice to the Board on ways to encourage parents' and guardians' involvement in their children's education. The Parent Involvement Committee works with parents, guardians, school councils and community partners to:

  • support constructive parental involvement in schools to improve student achievement and well-being
  • seek out advise and ideas from school councils, parents and partners to plan and implement strategies to involve more parents
  • provide the Board advise on the effectiveness of communications, events and other initiatives that affect relationships with parents and school councils
  • approve expenditures for activities or projects funded with the Ministry of Education's Parent Involvement funding

How to Join the Committee

In the fall of every year, the Board puts out a call for volunteer parent and community representatives to sit on the Committee.
